I think Snape is a vampire
I think Snape is a vampire. Perhaps it's just the fact that I positively hate him but when I read the books, I can't help but notice some things about him. Like his appearance sounds like one of a vampire's and the spells he created too!
For example, when Harry first meets Snape, he is described as a thin man with sallow skin. Sallow means a sickly, yellowish colour. In folklore, vampires are frequently described as being sallow. In terms of clothing, Snape usually wears a long black cloak. It is often also said that his cloak made him LOOK LIKE A BAT.
We also cannot ignore the spells he created. Sectumsempra and Levicorpus. The former makes you bleed profusely while Levicorpus makes you hang upside-down similar to how a bat sleeps. I do not know about you but these spells to me sound very vampire-like.
These next few are probably coincidences but I am going to mention them anyway. Firstly, In Prisoner of Azkaban, Snape acts as the substitute teacher for Harry's Defence Against the Dark Arts class. Despite Hermione saying that they were supposed to be moving onto to Hinkypunks, Snape insisted they start on werewolves. This is clearly a jab at Lupin and Lupin, naturally, being one of the Marauders, would not take that lying down. When Snape questions Harry about the Marauder's map, Lupin, realising it for what it was, tries to settle it quickly. After that, he beckons Harry and Ron to follow him saying, "Harry, Ron, come with me, I need a word about that VAMPIRE ESSAY. Excuse us, Severus." Is it just me or is a coincidence that Lupin mentions the essay in front of Snape.
Secondly, at the very end of Prisoner of Azkaban, after Harry has just learned that Snape’s wish had come true, and that Lupin was resigning from Hogwarts because it had gotten out that he was a werewolf, Dean says, "Wonder what they’ll give us next year?” said Seamus Finnigan gloomily. “Maybe a vampire.” Snape was eventually named Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher a few books later. This could be Rowling's idea of an easter egg although it did take Snape three more years to get there.
Lastly, when Quirrell meets Harry for the first time, Quirrell says, "You’ll be g-getting all your equipment, I suppose? I’ve g-got to p-pick up a new b-book on vampires, m-myself.” He looked terrified at the very thought. This suggests that Quirrell is afraid of vampires and who is Quirrell afraid of the entire first book? SNAPE. Granted, he does have the most powerful dark wizard sticking out of from the back of his head so it could just be because of that.
Personally, I am convinced Snape is a vampire and I know it is a popular theory amongst fans. Hopefully I gave you something to think about. Thanks!
